During the joint meeting, Iran’s Rahmani Fazli emphasized the need for bilateral cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Azerbaijan Republic in various areas including fight against drugs, terrorism, cyber crime as well as Takfiri terrorism.
Iranian Interior Minister also pointed to the document of cooperation inked between Iran and Azerbaijan to reduce impacts of natural disasters and called for expansion of relevant cooperation between the two countries given Iran’s vast experiences in this regard.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, for his part, referred to the good relations between presidents of the two sides and confirmed the Iranian official’s remarks saying “the threat of terrorism has been imposed upon us from outside and regional states are obliged to confront the risk with partnership and alliance.
Aliyev also appreciated the recent developments in bilateral ties and voiced his country’s readiness to further elevate current level of relations.
He referred to economic interactions between the two parties and stressed the need to complete North-South transport corridor by highlighting the role of railway connectivity between the two countries in increasing their transit capacity inside the region.
Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli is on a two-day visit to Azerbaijani capital of Baku and will hold further meetings with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ramil Idrisoglu Usubov as well as with the neighboring country’s Minister of Emergency Situations Colonel General Kamaleddin Heydarov.
