TEHRAN, Sep. 18 (MNA) – Book City's Cultural Center, in collaboration with a number of cultural activists, founded the Iran-Italy literary association.

Book City, known as Shahr-e Ketab in Persian, is Iran's premier bookshop chain, with several impressive outlets dotted around the capital.

According to the Public Relation’s Office of Book City, the joint literary association is an attempt to boost further communication among Iranian and Italian elites, writers, poets and scholars as well as mutual understanding between people of the two countries as regards developments in contemporary literature.

The first meeting of the society convened on Saturday September 17 in the Cultural and International Center of Book City Institute with participation and collaboration of a number of writers and translators.

The meeting discussed the association’s programs in line with gaining broader literary relations between Iran and Italy and it was decided that the forum, in cooperation with several prominent literary figures, will hold different ceremonies in Book City and literary and cultural institutions of the two sides.

Also, a bilingual literary journal will soon be published to reflect literary developments of the two countries as well as that new plans for joint cooperation will be designed and implemented in the coming year when Italy will be a special guest to Tehran International Book Fair.
