TEHRN, Sep. 08 (MNA) – Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ghasemi rejected recent claims by Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Aboul Gheit calling them baseless and repetitive.

“The continuation of the regrettable situation in Syria is the result of the policies and interference of the governments that have been acting against the legal government of Syria, and arm and train terrorists under pretext of fighting terrorism and cause destruction, homelessness and killing of the country's children,” Bahram Ghasemi said.

The official also urged Aboul Gheit not to take unconstructive and unrealistic approaches and instead review the situation in region and try to help establish unity and settle down the crises.

Ghasemi further underlined the need to respect sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria and the right of its nation to decide for their fate.

In a recent interview, the Arab League chief accused Iran of having a hand in the Syrian crisis.
