TEHRAN, Aug. 24 (MNA) – The Iranian men’s national beach soccer team has thrashed Bahraini and Japanese rivals at the Asian Continental Tournament underway China.

The Iranian outfit opened the first edition of the Continental Tournament on Tuesday morning with an impressive victory over Bahraini rivals at the group stage.

The Iranian side offered a brilliant performance and quelled Bahrain 10-1 in their opening match.

Mohammad Ahmadzadeh, Moslem Mesigar and Amir Hossein Akbari scored two goals each while Mohammad Ali Mokhtari, Seyyed Ali Nazem, Payman Hosseini and Hamid Behzadpour each found the net once.

After the big wins on Tuesday, Iranians took on Japan today in the Continental Tournament semi-finals where they gained a sweeping 5-nil victory on road to the finals.

A brace a goals were scored by Iran's Ahmadzadeh while Amir Hossein Akbari, Mohammad Ali Mokhtari and Farid Bolukbashi netted one goal apiece.

Attended by top eight Asian teams, the three-day sportive event is underway in Ordos city, one of the twelve major subdivisions of Inner Mongolia, China.

The first edition of the Continental Tournament kicked off in Ordos on August 23, and will come to an end on August 25.

The tournament serves as a warm-up event for the participants ahead of the 5th edition of Asian Beach Games to be competed in the south-central Vietnamese city of Da Nang from September 24 to October 3.
