TEHRAN, Aug. 16 (MNA) – Iranian researchers have indigenized Holter monitor that measures and tape records a patient’s heart's activity. The Iranian version uses a different software compared to other foreign models.

Masoud Nadi, researcher in charge of the project of ‘Holter monitoring system’, told Mehr News correspondent that his team aimed to help patients with heart problems to measure their heart rates and prevent exacerbation of their disease.

“According to statistics, 20 million people in Iran suffer from heart diseases,” Nadi said, adding “the Holter monitoring system can be used to measure and tape record a patient’s heart activity in a specific period of time.”

Approximately, 300 heart centers in the country can use this device, he added.

“The foreign models cost $1200-2500, but once our device reaches mass production, it will only cost around 96 dollars,” he said.

He went on compare the Iranian device with the existing foreign models, adding “the major difference is the software which exceeds the previous models, and will be available in three types.”

“The device also enjoys high accuracy and the ability to store data for a longer period of time compared to other models,” he added.

According to him, the device has been designed with the ability to send data wirelessly and analyze data online.
