TEHRAN, Aug. 12 (MNA) – An Interior Ministry official told the local media about the schedule of the coming presidential election of Iran.

Less than 10 months away from next presidential election, Iran’s Deputy Interior Minister for Political Affairs Mohammad Hossein Moghimi told the national broadcasting of the country, the IRIB, that presidency hopefuls can register in the five day period of April 11 to 15, 2017.

The official also recounted that the law would permit the vetted candidates to run a 20 day campaign before the day of ballot collecting.

The 12th edition of Iran’s presidential election will be held on Friday May 19, 2017 and President Hassan Rouhani will sure compete to win the race for his second term. The fifth edition of election for the local governments of the urban and rural councils will also be held on the same day. Four constituencies of Iran’s Parliament will also have mid-term elections on the day.
