Speaking at the ceremony to sign an MoU between Iran’s Navy and Iranian Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research (ACECR), Iranian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari emphasized that Navy can maintain strong presence in world waters with suitable equipment saying “the country’s Navy is now efficient and self-standing and satisfies its needs by merely relying on indigenous products.”
Sayyari, while pointing to the need for up-to-date facilities in Navy, added “accordingly, the country’s scientific and research centers are being visited in order to become familiar with capabilities of academic and industrial centers inside Iran.”
“Existing facilities need to be exploited for boosting the Navy’s capabilities,” underscored the official asserting “in line with the Leader’s remarks, we are moving towards self-sustenance by exchanging views with academics and researchers and inking Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with a number of universities.”
Sayyari also stressed that positive outcomes have been achieved in collaboration with universities as they can provide the Navy with necessary equipment.
