Bahram Ghasemi, in reaction to the German-Iranian nationality of the shooter in the Munich massacre and some media’s exploitations of it, said the Foreign Ministry has ordered its representatives in Germany and consulate in Berlin to follow up on the issue and send their gathered information back to Iran, adding “I have not received any information yet.”
“The principled policy of the Islamic Republic of Iran is based on the denouncement of violence, terrorism and the killing of innocent people, regardless of which group or individual has been responsible for it” Ghasemi said.
He went on to add, “due to this very same policy, we condemned the massacre since the early hours the news was released. As victims of terror ourselves, we cannot bear to remain silent, so we announced our position clearly.”
Ghasemi also referred to the exploitations of certain media outlets in the region for merely focusing on the Iranian nationality of the shooter instead of concentrating on the actual event, saying “this is a psychological warfare waged by the media outlets of certain countries that are the actual fathers of al-Qaeda, ISIL and Taliban. They seek to diminish the weight of their own dark misdeeds by relying on such accusations and baseless remarks, but of course, no one will fall for these accusations.”
“The status of the Iranian community is perfectly clear to all in the world and Iranians are considered among the best people in foreign societies,” he added.
