Mehran Golabkesh, the manager of steam power plants and power transmission projects of Thermal Power Plants Holding Company, said in a press conference today that a 100MW power plant in Eslamabad-e Gharb county in Kermanshah province is set to become fully operational on Sunday in the presence of President Hassan Rouhani.
He went on to add that the power plant has been constructed through investment by the public sector and once operational, the total nameplate capacity of the country’s power plants will reach 75,000,186 MW.
“Nearly $50 million was spent on the construction of the power plant which comprises four 25MW units and can be converted into a combined-cycle,” he said.
“As of now, the plant’s nominal output stands at 33 per cent,” he said, adding “following the negotiations we have had with certain European companies, the plant will later become a combined-cycle and as such, its output will increase up to 50 per cent.”
According to him, the objectives for the construction of the power plant included increasing the capacity of power generation in the region to meet part of the network’s demands, helping with the increase of network capacity and creating job opportunities.
