TEHRAN, Jul. 16 (MNA) – Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned Iranian tourists in Turkey to stay in their place of residence.

Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Iranian embassy in Ankara have issued a warning statement urging Iranians visiting Turkey to stay in their places of residence and avoid presence at any gathering in the country.

The statement urged Iranian tourists to also heed security warnings issued by Turkish authorities.

The statement release comes after Friday’s turmoil in Turkey when troops and military vehicles shut down Istanbul's Bosphorus Bridge and Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, the two conduits connecting the nation's European and Asian sides, and jets were heard flying low over Ankara.

For the time being, “the coup attempt has been repelled and the situation has been restored to normal,” the Turkish National Intelligence Organization (MIT) announced Saturday.
