MINSK, Jul. 13 (MNA) – Iranian 10-strong delegation headed by Science Minister Mohammad Farhadi arrived in Minsk on Wed. to discuss expansion of scientific and technological cooperation with Belarus.

During the scheduled three-day negotiations with the Belarusian delegations, various aspects for bilateral cooperation will be discussed between the two countries in various fields of education, science and technology.

The two sides will also finalize agreements under discussion in the current meeting and confer on prospects for future cooperation in academic areas and advanced technologies, as well as promotion of the level of scientific relations between the two countries for setting the agenda of the 7th meeting of Joint Commission for scientific and technological cooperation to be held in Iran next year.

Farhadi is slated to meet with Belarusian Minister of Education, Mihail Zhuravkov, Minister of Health Vasily Zharko, President of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, Vladimir Grigorievich Gusakov, and Chairman of the State Committee for Science and Technology, Alexander Shumilin.

The Iranian delegation is also scheduled to visit centers for science and technology, university faculties and research and scientific institutes in Belarus.

According to Iran’s Ambassador to Minsk, Mohammadreza Sabouri, Iran and Belarus have been most active in expanding cooperation in scientific and technological fields, and have been holding joint scientific commission’s meetings for ten years.

Iran and Belarus signed on May 4 a roadmap for boosting economic relations from the current $75 million to $250 million by the end of 2017 during the Joint Economic Commission’s meeting held in the Belarusian capital.
