TEHRAN, Jun. 30 (MNA) – President Rouhani of Iran issued, on Wednesday, a formal congratulatory letter greeting the newly appointed Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

“I honestly congratulate your well deserved appointment as the new Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which proves your commitment, competency, and expertise at your former positions,” reads in the opening of the formal letter of President Hassan Rouhani of Iran to Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri.

The Iranian president issued the letter on Wednesday after the Commander-in-Chief of Iranian Forces, Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, installed General Bagheri, on Tuesday, as the new Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Bagheri is succeeding Major General Gholamhossein Firouzabadi who had held the position since 1990.

According to the official website of Iran’s president, Rouhani, also in his letter, wishes the new commander success by hoping bolder solidarity, might, and competency for the armed forces of Iran under the new commander to deter and counter any offensive or deceptive measure of the enemies of Iran.

A veteran warrior of Iran-Saddam’s regime war of 1980-88, General Bagheri has received three medallions of honor for his courageous deeds in military positions.
