Bahram Ghasemi, Iran’s newly-appointed spokesman to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, denounced the two series of suicide bombings on Al Qaa village in northeastern Lebanon near the border with Syria on Monday, and highlighted Tehran’s support for the government, nation, army and the resistance movement of Lebanon in fighting terrorism.
Ghasemi further expressed his deepest sympathies to the families of victims, adding “the Islamic Republic of Iran once again reiterates the necessity and significance of vigilance and unity among governments and nations in the region in the fight against terrorism and is of the firm belief that the international community must make more serious efforts in combating terrorism, its roots, agents, elements and supporters.”
Eight suicide bombers carried out two waves of attacks on the town of Al Qaa in northeastern Lebanon on Monday, killing at least 5 people and wounding 28 others. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attacks and the reason as to why Al Qaa was targeted is still unknown.
