TEHRAN, Jun. 24 (MNA) – Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces said Fri. the British people’s decision to leave the EU is in fact a rejection of America’s imposition of will against European states.

Deputy Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces Brigadier General Massoud Jazayeri made the remark in reaction to the referendum of the United Kingdom's membership of the European Union, better known as Brexit, in which the UK voted to leave the EU by 52 per cent on June 23.

“Britain must pay the price for years of colonialism and crimes against humanity, and the separation of some parts of this country is the lowest price it will have to pay,” he said.

Jazayeri further noted the call for independence from people in British Isles, saying “people of Scotland, Ireland and other countries have a right to quit the monarchy of the so-called United Kingdom.”

He also reiterated that the only way the European Union could save itself was by declaring independence from the White House.

The UK has voted to leave the European Union after 43 years in an historic referendum, with the Leave campaign securing 52 per cent of the vote. While England voted overwhelmingly for Brexit, Scotland and Northern Ireland backed Remain. Following Brexit, David Cameron resigned as Prime Minister.
