From June 17th to 21th, 500 young basketball lovers coming from 23 countries competed at the ISF WSC Basketball 3×3 in Tallinn, the Medieval Old Town of Estonia, with the Iranian squad standing on the third podium.
The Iranian student team had reached the quarter final round bay hammering Portugal 21-10 and Bulgaria 21-9 while they were led to the repechage round after conceding a 14-21 defeat against Slovenian rivals.
Meanwhile, Tehran’s team triumphed in the match against Czech Republic 18-12 bagging the bronze of the championship.
Basketball players of Iran had been seeded in group C of the tournament against Belgium French Community, France, Slovenia, Slovakia, Estonia 1 as well as Portugal.
Group A comprised Estonia 2, China, Brazil, Hungary, France, Georgia, Serbia and India while the second group encompassed Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Belgium Flanders, Chile, Turkey, Latvia and England.
Iranian student basketball team will return to Iran on Tuesday.
This year’s World School Championship particularly highlights the Memorandum of Understanding between the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and the International School Sport Federation (ISF).
