LATTAKIA, Jun. 20 (MNA) – The cessation of hostilities agreement was breached by terrorist groups three times during the last 24 hours, raising the total number of breaches to 689 since the agreement came into effect, the Russian Coordination Center said.

The Russian center, based in Hmeimim airbase, said in a statement Sunday that terrorists of the so-called Jaish al-Islam targeted with mortar rounds a number of military positions.

The cessation of hostilities agreement, which came into effect on 27 February 2016, does not cover ISIS, Jabhat al-Nusra or other groups designated as terrorist organizations by the UN Security Council.

Total number of towns that have announced joining the agreement reached 155 after a town in Daraa joined it, the center added in its statement, indicating that the Russian and Syrian aircrafts did not target armed groups which had announced commitment to the agreement and reported their locations to the Russian center in Hmeimim or the American one in Amman.

The Russian center affirmed that groups affiliated to the terrorist organization of Jabhat al-Nusra did not stop their attempts to block the agreement by shelling towns of Ard al-Wati in Lattakia countryside, Salamiyeh in Hama countryside, and Marj al-Sultan and al-Bilalyeh in Damascus countryside.

Terrorists of Jabhat al-Nusra shelled Handarat town and neighborhoods of al-Sheikh Maqsoud, Salah eddin, al-Zahra and Nairab airport in Aleppo.
