As part of preparations for the next round of the AFC matches for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification, Iran’s national football squad met Kyrgyz rivals on Tuesday evening in Tehran’s Azadi Sport Complex where Carlos Queiroz’s boys managed win 6-nil.
Only five days after the 3-1 win in Macedonia, Carlos Queiroz applied significant changes to members of the Iranian squad during the match against Kyrgyzstan with the Iranian outfit comprising Haghighi (61’ Akhbari), Mahini, Hosseini (61’ Shojaeian), Tayyebi, Mohammadi, Ezatollahi (46’ Kamyabinia), Pourghaz, Shojaei (64’ Dejagah), Taremi (71’ Azmoun), Torabi (64’ Jahanbakhsh) as well as Ansarifard.
Iran’s first goal was netted early in the match through a penalty kick by Masoud Shojaei as one of the most experienced players of the Iranian team.
Mehdi Taremi confirmed Iran’s lead 25 minutes into the game when he turned a corner into Iran’s second goal.
The country’s footballers offered a perfect sportive performance as it was Mehdi Torabi’s turn to add a third only four minutes later in the 29th minute.
For the remaining part of the first half, Iran missed several opportunities due to sloppy finishing as well as Kyrgyzstan’s offside traps.
Many substitutions took place for the Iranian outfit in the second interval leading to a better performance as Alireza Jahanbakhs helped in two goals by Karim Ansarifard as well as one by Sardar Azmoun who scored his 15th international goal in his 18th appearance.
Iran’s next encounter will be the World Cup qualifying round 3 opener versus Qatar in Azadi stadium on September 1, before Queiroz’s men will travel to China for the second match five days later.
