TEHRAN, Jun. 06 (MNA) – Iran’s five-member team conceded a defeat in the final fixture of a football tournament in Brazil to finish runner-up.

The final contest of the Brazilian international football tournament was competed by Iran and Brazil A teams on Sunday evening in Rio de Janeiro where Javad Felfeli’s boys failed to overcome the Paralympian rival conceding a 3-0 defeat.

Earlier in the group stage of the sportive event, the five-member team of Iran had once again lost to Brazil A while they had drawn a game against Japan and prevailed over Mexico.

Accordingly, the country’s para footballers, who had defeated Argentinian contestants in the semifinals, finished second overall with a total of two wins, two losses and a draw in competition against seven other participating teams.

Brazil’s international tournament took place over five days having attracted eight teams from Iran, host Brazil, Japan, Tunisia, Argentina as well as Russia.

The repechage match of the tournament was held between Argentina and Morocco with the South American team gaining the upper hand to land third after Brazil A and Iran.

Apparently, except for Japan, other participating outfit hold Paralympic berths and the Iranian team took part in the football tournament in Brazil as a preparation phase for the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games.
