TEHRAN, May 31 (MNA) – Former Chancellor of Germany told the gathering of Iranian and German companies that he hoped President Rouhani of Iran would pay a visit to Germany.

“The nuclear deal was an important step toward restoring the close ties of Iran and Germany, and I hope it triggers other major steps,” said Former Chancellor of Germany, Gerhard Fritz Kurt Schröder, in a meeting with representatives of Iranian and German companies which was also attended by some German officials and the foreign countries’ ambassadors to Berlin.

He made the remark during the opening ceremony of Iran-EU center for economic cooperation in Berlin and highlighted that the new center would be the focal point of Iran-Germany trade ties in the future and it would surly help to take advantage of the full capacity of both countries.

“We worriedly follow the regional developments in the Middle East because instability in the ME would afflict the peace and welfare in Europe,” affirmed Schröder referring to the regional crises in Yemen, Syria, Iraq, and Libya, adding that, “ISIL is a major trouble for the international community, and it is up to all, EU, US, and Russia to counter the roots of immigration in the region.”

Schröder, who is currently the chairman of the board of Nord Stream AG, called for diplomatic cooperation among the members of the international community in dealing with the historical challenges of the Middle East.
