TEHRAN, May 29 (MNA) – Iranian cyclists have finished in 24th and 16th places in the first round of 2016 Tour of Japan.

The first stage of Tour of Japan as part of Asia Tour 2016 began on Sunday morning on a 2.65-kilometer route in Sakai in the form of Individual Time Trial (ITT).

The Canadian cyclists finished first followed by representatives of Colombia and host Japan who ended in second and third places.

Iran’s Arvin Moazemi Goudarzi of Pishgaman Kavir Yazd sports club landed 14th while Mahdi Sohrabi of Shahrdari Tabriz team finished 14th in the first stage to the sportive tournament.

Also, other members of Pishgaman Kavir Yazd team ranked 37th, 55th, 61st and 64th at the road bicycle race.

Cyclists of Shahrdari Tabriz, the top Asian team, gained the 49th, 56th, 69th, 90th and 92nd standings.

The second stage of the event will take place on Monday in Kyoto over a 107-kilometer route.

Comprising eight stages, Tour of Japan 2016 began today on May 29 in Japan and will wrap up on June 05 covering a total distance of 765.75 kilometers.
