TEHRAN, May 21 (MNA) – Iran's deputy interior minister and China’s MPS deputy minister have called for development of bilateral cooperation in areas of security and law enforcement.

Deputy Interior Minister for Security and Law Enforcement Hossein Zolfaghari met and talked with Deputy Minister of China’s Ministry of Public Security (MPS) Meng Hongwei on Saturday morning in the East Asian country.

The two sides discussed and shared views on venues for boosting bilateral collaborations.

Iran’s Zolfaghari pointed to the strong determination of the two countries’ officials to bolster bilateral relations calling for the expansion of cooperation in areas such as the fight against drugs and organized transnational crime.

He also stressed that the two political institutions can further collaborate in serious fight against extremism and combating terrorism.

China’s MPS Deputy Minister Meng Hongwei, for his part, welcomed the Iranian official’s suggestion emphasizing reinvigoration of ties between the two countries in all arenas.

Hongwei also referred to the long history of bilateral relations between Iran and China as well as the significant position of Iran in the international arena announcing MPS of China’s readiness to further develop cooperation with the Interior Ministry of Iran.

At the end of the meeting, the two parties signed the minute of the second cooperation meeting of the two ministries and insisted on its implementation.

Together with his accompanying delegation on a four-day visit to China, Mohammad Hossein Zolfaghari also visited some of the police stations in the East Asian country getting informed on their activities.
