TEHRAN, May 09 (MNA) – Maj. Gen. Mohsen Rezaei has vowed heavy retaliation against Takfiri terrorists over the death of a number of Iranian military advisers in Syria's Khan Touman.

Secretary of Expediency Council and former IRGC general Major General Mohsen Rezaei made the remark in an Instagram post on Monday, while referring to the martyrdom of 13 Iranian military advisers and 21 others who sustained injuries during terrorist attacks in Khan Touman village, south of the city of Aleppo, in recent days.

“A few months ago, Khan Touman village was liberated but in the past few days, Takfiri terrorists took advantage of the ceasefire, when no aircraft nor any artillery was active in the Syrian Army, struck a surprise attack on Syrian forces and Iranian advisers, and seized control of the area,” said Gen. Rezaei in his post.

He added that Saudi Arabia and Turkey had provided fire support for the Takfiris during the attacks that claimed lives of the forces who were all from Iran's northern province of Mazandaran.

“I promise you that the Takfiris, who are agents of the Zionist regime, will pay dearly for the attack. Undoubtedly, the final victory will belong to the Resistance, government and nation of Syria,” he said.

On Friday, merely two hours after an official announcement of ceasefire across Aleppo, Al-Nusra terrorists affiliated with Al-Qaeda seized control of the town of Khan Touman during a surprise attack that claimed the lives of 13 Iranian military advisers and wounded dozens of others. Currently, the Syrian Army has begun operations to recapture Khan Touman and al-Khalidiya neighborhood in Homs.
