TEHRAN, May. 01 (MNA) – Head of Iran's Expediency Council Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said on Saturday that Iran’s today security, among the other regional countries, is due to its rich experience in fighting terrorist groups.

Hashemi Rafsanjani made the remarks in a meeting with visiting President of Belgian Senate Christine Defraigne on Saturday.

He said the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to provide its valuable experiences in the fight against terrorism for the international community.

Iran is a victim of terrorism and the present security in the country is due to the Islamic Republic's longstanding fight against terrorism, the senior cleric added.

Rafsanjani highly regarded the 170-year history of Iran-Belgium bilateral relations, their cooperation in railway construction, construction of the first sugar factory in Iran and the reform of customs, taxes and the post as a priceless heritage, saying the relations needs to be updated and see a boom with respect to the capacity of the two countries.

Pointing to the spread of terrorism in the world and recent criminal attacks in Brussels and Paris, he called terrorists are a global threat, Rafsanjani said they have spread their sinister goals all over the world through propaganda in cyberspace. “The terrorist attacks in Brussels and Paris are among their efforts to spread their crimes globally.”

He warned about access of terrorists to Weapons of Mass Destruction including the chemical weapons and said that elimination of this dangerous phenomenon requires fundamental global action.

Ayatollah Rafsanjani called for a boost in all-out ties between Iran and Belgium, adding that there is no limitation for expansion of ties between Tehran and other European capitals including Brussels.

Visiting Christine Defraigne, for her part, called for expansion of Tehran-Brussels relations in all areas particularly pharmaceutical, medical and space.

She said all sides to nuclear talks with Iran need to do their best for removal of obstacles on the way of execution of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

Pointing to the recent terrorist attacks in Belgium, she noted consultations on terrorism was one of the main topics of her trip to Tehran.
