The jury panel for the Interfaith Section of the 34th edition of Fajr International Film Festival (FIFF) includes Seyed Mostafa Mohaghegh Damad from Iran, Magali Van Reeth from France, and Stephen Foerner from Germany.
Seyed Mostafa Mohaghegh Damad, hailing from one of the noblest and most religious Shia families, became a ‘Mojtahed’ (Shia Jurist) in 1969. He obtained his BA and MA degrees in Islamic Philosophy and Law at the University of Tehran and received his PhD in the International Law Section of French University of Levon in Belgium. He has written 16 books and tens of papers on law and philosophy of religion in English, Arabic and Persian.
Magali Van Reeth is the General Secretary of SIGNIS France and President of SIGNIS Europe. She also works as a journalist and film reviewer for the Signis website www.signis.net and has been member of SIGNIS juries in Amiens, Alba, Toulouse, Paris, Venice, Berlin (2008), Cannes (2012), etc. She has also been on the jury panel of the Inter-Faith section at the Farj Film Festival in Tehran (2010 and 2014).
Hailing from Germany, radio-journalist Stephan Foerner studied Catholic theology in Bamberg and Paris. Since 1997, Foerner has been a member of the catholic film commission for Katholische Filmkommission Für Deutschland. He has served as a member of ecumenical jury in international film festivals such as Cannes, Cottbus, Berlinale, etc.
The 34th edition of Fajr International Film Festival will be held from April 20th to April 25th, 2016 in Charsou Cineplex, under the supervision of the well-known Iranian filmmaker, Mr. Reza Mirkarimi.
