Rouhani made the remarks on Thursday in a ceremony held ahead of the country's National Nuclear Technology Day on Friday.
Honoring the martyrs of Iran-Iraq Imposed War and the martyred nuclear scientists, Rouhani said they have sacrificed their lives for the glory and dignity of Iran.
“This anniversary is different from previous ones as it is the anniversary after Iranians’ nuclear right has been recognized by all world and international organizations,” reiterated he, adding, “the success of Iran’s negotiating team in nuclear talks was one of the best in diplomatic arena of the country in the past century; Iran showed the world that the soft power needs to be considered more than hard power and rationalism and negotiation wins over pressure and threat.”
Rouhani underlined “moderation is the basis for a nation’s progress; Islam is based on moderation; moderation means to have a moderate approach towards the world, neither to trust fully nor to be pessimist totally.”
President Rouhani also said Iran’s military power poses no threat to any country in the region and the world.
“Iran is not a threat to any country; Iran posees no threat to any country, nor do it has any plan to threaten them or put pressure on them,” he said.
“During the 37 years after the Islamic Revolution, we invaded no country, nor did we threaten anyone. We just defended ourselves when we were invaded,” Rouhani stressed.
He also called the nuclear agreement between Iran and the 5+1 group of countries as a good opportunity for national unity inside Iran as well as for interaction with the world.
President Rouhani unveiled some of Iran's latest nuclear achievements during the ceremony.
