TEHRAN, Apr. 05 (MNA) – Secretary general of Iran's Volleyball Federation has announced the inking of a one-year contract with European coach Majda Leban Cicic to lead Iran's female volleyball team.

Mahmoud Afshardoost said “after observing the performance of the Slovenian coach in Tehran during training sessions of the junior team, we orally agreed on a one-year cooperation; later, the contract was prepared and handed over to the federation.”

“Majda signed the deal on Monday to officially become the coach of Iran's women volleyball team,” noted the official adding “accordingly, individual bodybuilding programs will be sent to national team players by the coach while the European coach will arrive in Tehran in mid-April to prepare the training session of the women's national volleyball team for Asian Women's Volleyball Championship.”

Secretary general of Iran's Volleyball Federation stressed that Cicic’s assistants will be Iranian asserting “the technical staff will be Iranian although final decisions regarding the personnel will be taken in the coming days.”

“After the development of the Iran men volleyball team in recent years, now the Iran Federation have decided to invest in the girl’s game; the appointment of the Slovenian manager is the first step,” the official concluded.
