According to police spokespeople and Iraqi media reports, at least 10 suicide bombers blew themselves up in regions with strong presence of the security forces and Shia volunteers of the People's Mobilization (PM), allied to the Government.
The deadliest of the attacks was carried out by an ISIL terrorist who detonated the explosives attached to his body in a restaurant visited by PM members. At least 14 PM members were killed in that attack.
Other bomb attacks were seen in Basra, south of Baghdad, and in the northern Mashsda, with a total of 11 dead, according to a police figures.
ISIL still controls vast zones in northern and western Iraq, but it has faced a fierce Army and federal security forces offensive backed by the PM, Sunni tribes, and kurds Peshmerga fighters.
For his part, the special envoy of the UN secretary general to Iraq, Jan Kubis, warned the risk that are taking thousands of displaced by ISIL violence when they decide to return to their homes.
