TEHRAN, Mar. 16 (MNA) – Iran’s Sepahan and Tractor Sazi Tabriz football teams both failed to overcome rivals at the 2016 AFC Champions League (ACL) on Tuesday.

In Group A of ACL, Sepahan of Iran and Uzbekistan’s Lokomotiv met on Tuesday at the rain-soaked Foolad Shahr Stadium where the Uzbek team bagged its first win of this year’s AFC Champions League after securing a 2-0 win over the Iranian club.

Marat Bikmaev opened the scoring for Lokomotiv by finding the net 14 minutes into the game while Sardor Mirzayev sealed the win for the Uzbek side in the 87th minute.

Iran’s Sepahan had opened the 2016 ACL with a cool 2-nil victory against Al Nasr while they conceded a defeat against the Emirati team in the second week of the campaign.

Uzbekistan’s other representative at the event managed to obtain a 1-nil victory over Tractor Sazi Tabriz of Iran in Group C of the AFC Champions League.

Iran’s Tractor Sazi, who remains atop Group C following two victories over Al-Jazeera, had to concede a defeat Uzbekistan’s Pakhtakor at Pakhtakor Stadium.

The home side opened the scoring shortly before the interval through Sergeev’s beautifully struck strike from just outside the penalty area.
