TEHRAN, Mar. 16 (MNA) – Iranian foreign minister met authorities of the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) as well as representatives of large companies in the Oceanian country on Wednesday.

Iran FM Mohammad Javad Zarif, who is in Australia for a two-day visit on the last leg of his six-nation Asia-Pacific tour, arrived in Sydney from Canberra on Tuesday evening in order to meet Iranians residing in Australia as well as members of the Oceanian country’s Trade Commission known as Austrade.

Speaking at the gathering of Austrade members, Zarif pointed to the removal of sanctions describing Iran’s potentials as the most stable and democratic state in West Asia; “major capacities of Iran include numerous elite human resources, great Nano- and biotechnological capabilities, new and attractive competitive market, networking with Central Asia and Caucasus, Russia, Afghanistan and Chabahar port, communication facilities to the Strait of Hormuz and the Persian Gulf as well petrochemicals and tourism industry."

CEO of the Australian Trade Commission Bruce Gosper also announced at the meeting that the reopening of its country’s trade office in Iran adding “the Commission undertakes the responsibility of providing facilities for development of Australia’s exports.”

Gosper went on to note the importance of appropriate political coverage and understanding of capacities for boosting economic relations expressing hope that similar meetings and exchange of delegations would provide grounds for further understanding of features and capabilities of the two countries’ commercial sector.

Later at the meeting, representatives of several major Australian companies and organizations in areas of water, agriculture, energy and mining presented materials on their abilities as well as areas of joint cooperation.
