KABUL, Mar. 09 (MNA) – At the end of the 3rd Iran-Afghanistan Consular Meeting in Kabul on Tuesday, the two sides signed three MoUs on consular cooperation.

In a joint press conference held in Kabul on Tuesday , Nasir Ahmad Andisha, Afghanistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Finance and Administrative Affairs, and Hassan Ghashghavi, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Consular Affairs, signed three MoUs on consular cooperation.

“We achieved all of our objectives in this meeting and inked three memorandums of understanding on consular cooperation,” said Ghashghavi.

According to him, the MoUs included cooperation on extradition, transfer of prisoners, settling jurisdiction problems, reduction in penalty, and solving the problems of civilians in both countries.

He went on to add that an agreement was also reached on transport cooperation between the two countries.

Iran-Afghanistan consular cooperation meeting was held Tuesday afternoon after three years of delay with the participation of Ghashghavi, his Afghan counterpart and a number of other officials, in a bid to exchange views on certain consular issues between the two sides.
