TEHRAN, Mar. 06 (MNA) – Iran women’s national team overcame Uzbekistan to win the title of Division 3 at 2016 World Team Table Tennis Championships in Malaysia.

Female ping pong players of Iran had previously subdued Venezuela advancing to Division 2 of the games.

In the final fixture at Women’s Team events, the Iranian squad gained a precious 3-1 victory over Uzbekistan standing atop the podium at Perfect 2016 World Team Table Tennis Championships.

Neda Shahsavari, Mahjubeh Omrani and Maryam Samet formed the Iranian outfit in the final encounter against Uzbekistan.

The national team had previously taken the first prize in Division 4 of 2006 World Championships held in Germany.

In total, 87 Men's and 78 Women's teams representing 94 countries took part in the 2016 World Team Table Tennis Championships, participating in 4 different divisions.

The event kicked off at the Malawati Stadium in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on 28 February and wrapped up on May 06.
