The memorandum of understanding was signed with the TI Sparkle, the international services arm of the Telecom Italia Group, during the visit of President Rouhani to Italy on 25-26 January. Under the MoU, the TI Sparkle will set up an IP Point of Presence (IP-PoP) in Tehran and the country’s global IP capacity will increase.
The MoU will enable the TIC to guide more traffic from domestic IP bandwidth to neighboring countries and from there to the global telecommunication network. Once implemented, the TIC will gain access to global links under the management of Sparkle and the quality of bandwidth received by the company will improve.
Furthermore, TIC will be able to support the increasing demand of IP services coming from the local market and from neighboring countries. The idea is to accelerate in the development of digital and value added services Iran.
“This agreement will give Iran access to global internet services and make it one of the bandwidth providers with regional quality,” Alessandro Talotta, the chairman and CEO of TI Sparkle, said after inking the MoU in Rome during Iranian President Hassan Rouhani's recent visit to Italy.
He went on to add that the TI Sparkle’s Seabone will help improve the user experience of Iranian customers by providing high grades of reliability and guaranteed service level agreements to the large community of local Service Providers of the region.
