TEHRAN, Jan. 22 (MNA) – The Iranian parliamentary delegation arrived in the capital city of Czech Republic on Thursday to meet with high-ranking officials.  

Iranian Parliamentary delegation headed by Vice-Speaker of the Iranian Parliament Seyed Mohammad-Hassan Aboutorabi Fard, arrived in the capital city of Czech Republic, Prague, late on Thursday.

The Iranian delegation is slated to meet with Czech officials including the Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka, the Minister of Industry and Trade Jan Mládek, the Chair of the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Jan Hamáček, Vice-President of the Chamber of Deputies Vojtěch Filip, and František Bublan who chairs the Committee on Foreign Affairs, Defence and Security of Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic.

Boosting cooperation in political and economic areas has been announced to be the objectives of the Iranian delegation's visit to Prague.

The Czech Minister of Industry and Trade Mládek had formerly travelled to Iran and had said that the volume of trade between the two countries could have been multiplied 10 times of the current status which was $35 million per year. 

He paid the visit to Tehran to talk with Iranian officials on Tehran-Prague joint cooperation in the fields of car manufacturing, rail industry and machinery.

The Czech Vice-President of the Chamber of Deputies Vojtěch Filip accompanied by three members of the parliament Štěpán Stupčuk, Stanislav Berkovec, and Milan Šarapatka, had a three visit of Tehran, earlier in April 2015, and met with a host of Iranian officials including his Iranian counterpart Aboutorabi Fard whose invitation inspired the travel.

Previously on January 11, 2015, Head of the Iran-Czech Parliamentary Friendship Group Vahid Ahmadi and a Czech envoy to Tehran Petr Stepanek had met in Tehran and discussed ways to boost the two countries' parliamentary ties.
