TEHRAN, Jan. 12 (MNA) – Head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Ali Akbar Salehi says the country is about to begin a new chapter in expanding international relations and playing a decisive role in the world’s energy future.

The remarks were made by Ali Akbar Salehi, head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI), in a message to the 12th edition of Kish International Energy Exhibition, dubbed Kish ENEX 2016, which opened on Monday on Kish Island, Iran.

Salehi highlighted the significance of holding the exhibition, adding “we are now standing on the threshold of a new chapter in the Islamic Republic’s history in regard to international relations. It is therefore imperative to define the role and share of the country in the future of world’s energy.”

“Iran, due to having huge hydrocarbon reserves as well as enjoying a history of over hundred years in energy sector, has always been considered as one of the leading countries in the world in the field of energy,” said Salehi on Monday.

The AEOI head further called for a strategic vision in the development of the country’s long-term plans for the energy sector that would be both comprehensive and multi-sectoral.

The 12th edition of Kish International Energy Exhibition, dubbed Kish ENEX 2016, started on January 11 and will continue until January 14 on the southern Iranian resort island of Kish.

Some 160 Iranian companies as well as 35 foreign firms from Italy, China, Pakistan, Turkey, the Netherlands, India, South Korea, Taiwan, the Republic of Azerbaijan, Malaysia, France, Austria, the United Arab Emirates, Spain, Germany, Belgium, Australia, Russia, the UK, Japan, Portugal, Canada, Kuwait and Switzerland, among others, are participating in the exhibition.
