Boushehr, Jan. 11 (MNA) – Iran’s President Rouhani has officially inaugurated to most indigenous phases of South Pars gas condensate field.

The developmental phases 15 and 16 were officially put into operation at the presence of the Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, Oil Minister Bijan Zanganeh together with a number of oil industry managers as well as some officials from Bousher province.

The new phases have been implemented aiming to produce 50 million cubic meters of sweet gas per day to supply the country’s fuel demand particularly in residential, commercial and industrial sectors.

Another objective pursued in developing of Phases 15 and 16 comprises production of 80 thousand barrels of gas condensate for refinery industries to manufacture fuel, valuable products as well as 400 tons of sulfur to be exported to international markets.

South Pars’s new phases will also produce more than one million tons of LPG liquid gas for export pruposes as well as one million tons of ethane gas per year.

Offshore and onshore facilities of Phases 15 and 16 consist of two drilling rigs (each containing 11 wells), two 32-inch submarine pipelines with an approximate length of 115 kilometers, two 4.5-inch glycol pipelines, gas sweetening units as well as related services.

A consortium of Iranian companies has been in charge of expanding offshore and onshore sections of the project.

All operational stages in construction, installation and commissioning of the new phases have been carried out under Iranian administration.

South Pars Phases 15 and 16, as the most native developmental phases, mark the second achievement of the incumbent government while Phase 12 was launched late last Iranian calendar year (Early 2015).
