TEHRAN, Dec. 22 (MNA) – Iranian ICT Minister Vaezi said Iran and Russia seek to sign a monetary contract for easy exchange of currencies boosting bilateral economic ties.

On the sidelines of a meeting with Russian Trade and Industry Minister Denis Manturov, Iranian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Mahmoud Vaezi said “the signing of the common monetary treaty aims to facilitate economic and trade relations between the two countries.”

“The barriers to further expansion of bilateral collaboration were reviewed at the meeting and it was decided to coordinate efforts to alleviate existing problems,” Vaezi added.

Iran’s ICT minister recalled the negotiations with the Russian side to reduce the tariff on Iranian goods exported to Russia; “Russia pledged to take necessary steps towards reduction of tariffs in favor of Iran,” he asserted.

“Economic and trade ties between Iran and Russia will get strengthen on the basis of a co-production approach,” underlined the Iranian official.

Vaezi further reminded the opening of Russian National Industrial Exhibition - Trade and Industrial Dialogue: Russia – Iran 2015 adding “Russian companies have presented a variety of products at the fair as well as that they are trying to assess Iranian counterparts for further cooperation.”

Denis Manturov, Russian Trade and Industry Minister, for his part, stressed the need to increase the level of cooperation between Iran and Russia adding “the two sides are required to mount up the current level of joint ventures.”

“Friendly relations between Iran and Russia marks a good basis for the development of economic and trade cooperation,” he added.

At the end of his remarks Manturov emphasized “new perspectives will open in bilateral relations between the two sides and cooperation for joint production of goods will rise.”
