TEHRAN, Dec. 20 (MNA) – Iranian cultural winter feast ‘Yalda Night’ will be celebrated in Austria, Germany, Cyprus, Spain and Belarus by the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO).

The celebrations will be held, 21-23 Dec, for the Iranians who live in the European countries.

The festival will be celebrated with the attendance of Iranian traditional music ensembles.

Yalda Night (Yalda Eve) marks the longest night of the year in the Northern Hemisphere which is commemorated on or around December 20 or 21 each year.

The ceremony symbolizes triumph of light over darkness.

The event is celebrated by family and friends getting together for feasting and having a good time.

Different kinds of dried fruits, nuts and fresh fruits are consumed on the occasion.

The families also read poetry, particularly from the Divan-e Hafez, during the night.
