TEHRAN, Dec. 12 (MNA) – Visiting Serbian delegation met with officials of Iran’s ministry of agriculture and reached agreements for joint agricultural projects.

A Serbian delegation met with Iranian officials of agriculture ministry in Tehran in last week and discussed bilateral cooperation in areas of production, joint investment, and technology transfer on seed production.

Iran is not seeking mere import of products but joint production and technology transfer are prioritized by Iranian officials, asserted Houman Fat’hi, the General Manager of International Affairs and Specialized Organization of the ministry during the meetings.

The official held that long run cooperation and joint investment on areas of livestock, seeds, food industry and agricultural machinery would be of benefit to both sides.

Certificate issuance for organic products is a good point of start for developing bilateral cooperation, highlighted the Iranian general manager referring to Serbia’s bureau for certifying organic productions.

Mohsen Tavazo was another official who welcomed expansion of cooperation especially in producing seeds of maize, sugar beet, oily kernels, fodder, and vegetables.

Tavazo, who is the general manager of seeds production in Iran’s agriculture ministry, underlined that two kinds of Serbian maize have so far been registered in Iran and new seeds for vegetables can be jointly engineered and produced.
