SANTIAGO DE CHILE, Dec. 11 (MNA) – The regional office of FAO based in Chile highlighted the projection of Latin America as the greatest net world exporter of food products, ahead of North America.

According to the Organization of the United Nations for Food and Agriculture (FAO), Latin America exceeded North America since the start of the decade of 2000 with a sustained up-trend.

The analysis is based on the report the state of commodity markets 2015-2016 (SOCO) that shows stability in this sector to the future.

For the year 2024, the net trade of commodities of Latin America would reach 60 billion dollars, three times the value observed in the year 2000, said the UN Agency.

Also, FAO commented that according to SOCO, Latin America ranks as one of the main world suppliers of some basic foods with special supplies to Asia and Africa.
