TEHRAN, Dec. 07 (MNA) – The Iranian Navy will give a severe response to any foreign threats, making aggressors regret their action, Navy Commander Habibollah Sayyari says.

Sayyari made the remarks in a banquet of foreign military attaches at the headquarters of Islamic Republic of Iran's Navy in Tehran.

He noted that the history of the Islamic Republic of Iran indicates that the country holds a defensive strategy and so far, it has not threatened or attacked any nation. Iran's Navy as well as other armed forces are fully prepared to defend the country’s territorial integrity and give a severe response to any foreign threats, making aggressors regret their action.

“In the past recent years, the Navy was powerfully present in international waters with a message of peace and friendship. It has also taken effective steps in providing the security of international waters”, he added.

Moreover he said that the navies are effective in international levels for expanding foreign relations and ties; a matter in which Iran’s Navy has acted positively in the past recent years.

Referring to the statements of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution on the significance of the Navy, he added “Our Leader believes that ‘Navy is a military, scientific, international and political force’; and has deemed Iran's Navy as a manifestation of the country's authority in the seas.”

Sayyari added that Iran’s Navy has boosted its international activities day by day and tends to enhance its marine diplomatic ties.

He also underlined that Iran is fully prepared to cooperate with the Navy of friend countries for providing peace, stability and security.

The official also invited the foreign military attaches to attend the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium which will be hosted in 2018 by Iran.
