TEHRAN, Dec. 05 (MNA) – Iran’s Hassan Rouhani has told a group of country’s new ambassadors to foreign countries they should ‘improve Iran’s status’ in the region and the world.

President Rouhani addressed Iran’s new ambassadors to Belgium, Thailand, Pakistan, Denmark, the Philippines, Greece, Senegal, and Sri Lanka Saturday morning where he reiterated Iran’s grand policy of seeking stability, security and development in the region, believing that ambassadors could contribute to this through making much of the new environment post-JCPOA; “the current opportunities should be optimally used for political, economic, and cultural development in relation with other countries, which should contribute to maximize national interests,” Rouhani told the meeting of ambassadors. “We are now in a critical juncture where to improve ties to the world as in shorter period of time as possible in road to sustainable development; with JCPOA on place, Iran is now the pioneer of fighting terrorism and a messenger of peace and stability for countries in the region.”

Rouhani emphasized upon seeking unity among Muslims Iran’s priority in foreign policy; “currently, the most important priority for Islam is solidarity and fraternity among all Islamic denominations; on this premise, relations with Islamic countries constitutes a priority for us,” president said.

He also touched upon yet another issue of appointment of women to embassy and other political foreign missions; “women’s presence has brought success in different fields of activity, either social positions or in sports and politics. This rules that gender should play only a secondary role and personal achievements and competence should be the contributing attributes to any appointments,” Rouhani emphasized.
