TEHRAN, Nov. 29 (MNA) – President Rouhani says the implementation of the nuclear accord will improve Iran-Europe cooperation to a desirable level.

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani made the remarks in a Sunday meeting with Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias in the Iranian capital, Tehran, adding if the 5+1 representatives are fully committed by the JCPOA, the Islamic Republic will be also determined to put the nuclear agreement into effect.

The Iranian President referred to Iran and Greece cultural and historical commonalities, adding “these common grounds have provided good opportunities for the two countries to further expand cooperation in academic, research, advanced technology, tourism and economic fields.”

Rouhani described Tehran-Athens’s relations as ‘close, friendly and with mutual respect’, stressing the need for even closer ties after the implementation day and the lift of unjust sanctions against the Islamic Republic.

Nikos Kotzias, for his part, attached great significance to Iran and Greece’s relations in the political, economic, cultural and social fields, saying there is a lot of room for two countries’ to expand cooperation.

“On behalf of the Greek government, I came here today with an extensive plan regarding topics and fields of mutual interest for cooperation with the Islamic Republic,” said Kotzias, adding the plans will be presented by the economic team that is accompanying him in this visit.

“Besides the economic cooperation, we have a keen interest in expanding interaction with Iran in all areas,” he stressed.

Kotzias announced planning for the visit of Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras to Iran, and called for establishing direct flights between the two countries.

The Greek Foreign Minister attended a joint press conference with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif on Sunday, and is also scheduled to hold talks with Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani.

40 Greek businessmen are accompanying him on this two-day visit, who will be looking into the Iranian market for business opportunities in various fields.
