The most important factor is that factories are really ready at the starting gate, after having made quality repairs in all agricultural and industrial machinery in order to benefit the most from its milling potential, declared to Prensa Latina, Liobel Perez, institutional communicator of the Sugar Group of enterprises Azcuba.
According to the specialist, 50 factories will participate in the harvest and the first one to start operations is the Boris Luis Santa Coloma of the western province of Mayabeque, which made one of the best harvests of its history last season.
Recent rains-influenced by the climatological event El Niño, said Perez, make it advisable to wait a few more days for more favorable conditions to appear, but the important thing is to guarantee a high milling operation.
Perez explained that according to the chronogram, 33 factories should be active before the end of the year on December 31, while the remaining 17 will start in January.
Sugar production in the country has increased over the last five years and we will work to keep up that trend in this harvest, he said.
We have worked with better organization in the preparation tasks and there is enthusiasm to face the harvest, making it more efficient, he sustained.
In the campaign 2014-2015, production was higher by 20 percent compared to the previous harvest, but the industrial capacity index in a group of factories was below that expected and prevented the plants from achieving a higher result.
