PARIS, Nov. 26 (MNA) – The French National Assembly voted Wednesday in favor of prolonging the French airstrikes in Syria, which began in late September passed without the consent of Damascus.

The deputies were in favor of continuing with those actions, that, after the bombings in Paris nearly two weeks ago, will be intensified in order to hit the positions of the self-proclaimed ISIL, a group that has claimed responsibility for the attacks, government sources pointed out.

The extension obtained 515 votes in favor and two against. Meanwhile, the 10 deputies of the Left Front abstained, as they explained that although they share the goal of destroying the ISIL, they regretted the commitment of the French forces are not formally done under the aegis of the United Nations.

French President Francois Hollande, stated earlier this week that his country will intensify the attacks against extremist groups and bombard their sensitive targets in Syria.

We will intensify our bombing; choose goals that will do the most damage to this army of terrorists, he said in a statement to media.
