NEW YORK, Nov. 25 (MNA) – UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon urged on Tuesday to the clarification of an incident involving the Russian aircraft Su-24 that shot down by Turkey and called to prevent the escalation of tensions as a result of the event.

According to the spokesman, Stephane Dujarric, the Secretary General is concerned about what happened on the border with Syria and highlighted the importance of the findings resulting from a credible and thorough review to clarify the events and help prevent future recurrences.

Turkey shot down the unit that participated in the anti-terrorist campaign against the ISIL in Syria on the grounds that it violated its airspace, thesis categorically rejected by Russia.

According to Ban, the incident demonstrates the importance of international unity and to combat terrorism and extremist violence in the region and to find a solution to the Syrian conflict cooperation.

It also reiterated its call to all countries implementing military actions to defeat the ISIL.
