TEHRAN, Nov. 25 (MNA) – An official at the Trade Promotion Organization said Iran-Oman Joint Commission has dedicated a separate section to cooperation with Hormozgan province and an airline will be launched between the province and the Arab country.

Addressing a meeting on how to attend Oman Trade Exhibition in Bandar Abbas Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, Trade Promotion Organization Director General for Arab-African Department Farzad Piltan referred to the special position of Oman and the Musandam Governorate and said “contrary to what it might seem, Oman is a rich country with a per capita income of 40 thousand dollars with a purchasing power four times that of Iranians.”

“According to the previous agreement signed in this regard and despite the problems residing in the MoU, we offer the necessary support to hold the exhibition preserving the dignity of the Islamic Republic of Iran,” he added.

Piltan maintained that the economic exchanges between the two countries have shown a growing trend adding “each country’s turnover has been 400 million dollars and the six-month statistics indicate a 12 per cent growth in Iran’s exports to Oman.”

Also at the meeting, the head of Bandar Abbas Chamber of Commerce Mohammasd Amin Sabaghizadeh pointed out the cultural similarity between Oman and Hormozgan asserting “there exist good political relations between Iran and Oman which will be effective for trade transactions along with a common language and culture.”

Stressing that the sea route between the two countries is active, he called for the launch of Bandar Abbas-Oman airline and said “we need to facilitate import of Tuna fish from Oman with low tariffs so that the Iranian companies won’t need to import from China or Indonesia with excessive costs."

“The joint exhibition of Hormozgan and Oman products will be held in the Khasab city of Musandam Goveronate on December 15-17 in various fields including industry, mining, agriculture as well as commerce," maintained the official.

He further stated that the share of the company is equally divided between the producers and companies of the two sides and senior Iranian and Omani officials will attend the opening ceremony.

“The exhibition enjoys strong support of Hormozgan’s governor and other provincial officials,” Sabaghizadeh concluded.
