TEHRAN, Nov. 17 (MNA) – Iran’s oil minister was appointed as the chairman of extraordinary general meeting of Gas Exporting Countries Forum summit in Tehran.

The third summit of Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GEFC) will kick off in Tehran on Nov. 23, hosting its 18 main and observer members.

Accordingly, Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh, will chair the extraordinary general meeting of the members, while the ordinary meeting is to be headed by newly-appointed oil minister of Nigeria.

GECF members account for 42 percent of global gas output, 70 percent of global gas reserves, 40 percent of pipe gas transmission, and 65 percent of global trade of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).

The member countries of the Forum includes Algeria, Bolivia, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Russia, Trinidad and Tobago, United Arab Emirates and Venezuela, while Iraq, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, Norway, Oman and Peru have the status of Observer Members.
