VIENNA, Oct. 30 (MNA) – Iran’s Deputy FM Hossein Amir-Abdollahian dismissed any media claims that the Islamic Republic has agreed with a plan for the removal of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

“Any claim that Iran has consented with Assad’s removal in six months is strongly dismissed,” reassured Amir-Abdollahian, on the sidelines of the Vienna talks on Friday at Imperial Hotel.

Earlier on Friday, Reuters published a report claiming that Iran has signaled a support for a six-month transition period in Syria followed by elections to decide Bashar al-Assad's fate.

The report does not name the source, giving the vague description as, “sources who described the Iranian proposal.”
