DAMASCUS, Oct. 27 (MNA) – Russian aviation continues harrying the main positions of ISIL, Al-Nusra Front and other militant groups operating in Syrian territory and complementing the offensive of the army and the popular militia.

The Russian high command confirmed on Monday that 59 sorties were conducted against 94 terrorist targets, destroying eight command posts, five ammunition dumps, three convoys of trucks loaded with ammunition and weapons, positions of mortars and artillery, 38 training camps and 43 bunkers. According to information provided by the Ministry of Defense of Russia, the aviation conducted 164 flights in the past three days and attacked 285 targets of the terrorist groups ISIL and Al-Nusra Front, in various parts of the Syrian territory.

The main operational areas were the provinces of Hama, Latakia, Damascus, Aleppo and Deir Ez-zor, where 24 command posts were destroyed, plus three workshops for manufacturing IEDs and rockets, 21 ammo and fuel dumps, and 233 fortified positions. Since the beginning of collaboration of the Russian aviation with the Syrian armed forces on September 30th, at the request of the government of Damascus, more than 930 sorties were conducted against strategic points of the extremist bands.

For his part, the General Staff of the Syrian army confirmed that the armed forces, with support of the combat aviation, continue their counterterrorist operations in several provinces. According to the army spokesman, in recent days the army managed to liberate about 50 towns and villages in the northern province of Aleppo, and continues the search of terrorists lurking in the area. They also confirmed that the regions of Wadihi and Hadadin were declared 'safe areas,' and the displaced civilians were encouraged to return to their places of residence.

The spokesman of the armed forces explained further that the combat operations were ongoing in Harasta, Nouleh, and Eastern Ghouta, on the outskirts of the capital, with large human and material casualties among the terrorist ranks.
