In reaction to the so-called Quartet meeting on Syria in Vienna, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian asserted that “it is time for everyone to contribute to political procedure in Syria and this is the Syrian nation who should finally decide for their country.”
“Some parties who have been playing a destructive role in Syria by supporting terrorists, should now think of a constructive role in this country,” emphasized he.
Amir-Abdollahian asserted that Tehran backs UN efforts and deems anti-terrorist measures taken by Russia in Syria as positive; he also urged consultations with the EU and in the region in order to bring focus on political solution to the crisis in Syria.
Meanwhile, touching upon the situation in Yemen and the Saudi aggression in the Arab country, Iranian deputy FM reiterated that the time for the attacks against the oppressed people of Yemen has come to an end and Khartoum’s joining to the Saudi coalition would bring no benefit to the unsuccessful Saudi war in Yemen.
